Leah Metcalf

Leah is the second of four children born to Ruth and Michael Metcalf, a physician. Her older brother, Mike, played football at Appalachian State University and now works as a co-pit coach with a NASCAR Sprint Cup team; her younger brother, Jonathan, an attorney, played football at Johnson C. Smith University.  Her younger sister, Christina, graduated from Meredith College and is a CAD Specialist/Designer.

Leah enjoys traveling the world and experiencing different places, foods, and cultures. She also enjoys meeting new people and learning new languages. In her free time, she entertains family and friends, but also finds it important to spend quiet time reading and in devotion. Leah practices yoga; she loves working out and encouraging others to do the same. When she’s not playing basketball in Europe, you can catch her both playing and watching sports (particularly basketball), and catching up on the latest movies (especially action movies and comedies).

Leah graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. A member of the women’s basketball team, she served as the sole team captain her senior year, as well as the academic team captain. She was on the Dean’s List in the spring of 2005 and was awarded academic All-ACC all four years; she also received the 2005 Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete Award. Since graduating from college, Leah has been playing professional basketball in Europe (Sweden, France, Luxembourg, Russia, and Poland) and Australia.
